We study the implication of triviality on Higgs sector in next to minimal supersymmetric model (NMSSM) using variational field theory. It is shown that the mass of the lightest Higgs boson in NMSSM has an upper bound ∼10MW which is of the same order as that in the standard model.

In the search for phenomenological evidence of supersymmetry through the indirect method of quantum signatures, it is useful to seek correlations of the non-standard quantum effects in low and high energy proceses, such as those involving on one hand the properties of theB-mesons and on the other hand the physics of the top quark and of the Higgs bosons. There are regions of the MSSM parameter space where the potential quantum SUSY signatures in the two energy regimes are strongly interwoven and therefore the eventual detection of these correlated quantum effects would strongly point towards the existence of underlying supersymmetric dynamics.

An axially symmetric exact solution of the Einstein-Maxwell equations is obtained and is interpreted to give the gravitational and electromagnetic fields of a charged tachyon. Switching off the charge parameter yields the solution for the uncharged tachyon which was earlier obtained by Vaidya. The null surfaces for the charged tachyon are discussed.

Confinement model for gluons using a ‘colour super current’ is formulated. An attempt has been made to derive a suitable dielectric function corresponding to the current confinement. A simple inhomogeneous dielectric confinement model for gluons is studied for comparison. The model Hamiltonians are second quantized and the glueball states are constructed. The spurious motion of the centre of confinement is accounted for. The results of the current confinement scheme is found in good agreement with experimental candidates.

CP-violating rate asymmetry can be generated in a process only if its amplitude possesses an absorptive part. It is pointed out that such an absorptive part can be provided ine+e− annihilation by the presence of aZ(Z′) resonance of non-zero width. The CP asymmetry in the process
$$e^ + e^ - \to l_i \bar l\left( {l_i \bar l_j } \right)$$
, whereli are charged leptons, is discussed in several models. In a specific two-Z model, large and observable CP asymmetry ine+e− →τ+e− (τ−e+) is shown to be possible at LEP/SLC energies.

The known lower bound on the unstable photino mass gets invalidated by a gravitino lighter than 10−3 eV. Nevertheless, general bounds can be derived by feeding early universe constraints from the primary abundance of He4 and the extant lower bound on the gravitino mass into the lifetime for the decay photino → photon + gravitino. The mass-rangeO(100) eV toO(1) MeV is excluded.

Confinement model for quarks and gluons is formulated. An attempt has been made to derive the dielectric function starting from a Lagrangian that also determines the quark and gluon field equations. Deconfinement mechanism is also discussed.

Using a geometric model to study the structure of hadrons, baryons having one, two and three heavy quarks have been studied here. The study reveals diquark structure in baryons with one and two heavy quarks but not with three heavy identical quarks.
